Frequently Asked Questions
Is Wheat Germ oil gluten free?
  • Wheat Germ oil is gluten free. For those with gluten sensitivities and allergies, Wheat Germ oil is safe for topical use and consumption. It has a nutty flavor and is used as an ingredient in cooking often. However, for those with sensitive skin or with skin that is easily irritated, it is recommended to perform a skin patch test of Wheat Germ oil on the inner arm for 24 hours before using over a larger portion of the body. If redness, itchiness or irritation occurs, discontinue use.
Where to buy Wheat Germ oil?
  • Edens Garden has an excellent Wheat Germ oil that is unrefined and cold pressed from the wheat kernel and loaded with antioxidant activity. It has a light yellow color and is extracted from wheat germ and made by the cold pressed extraction method. It can be used in skincare and body care products as well as blended with essential oils for spot treatments to reduce inflammation, dry skin and redness. It can also be used on the scalp to improve hair thickness and hair growth.
Can I use Wheat Germ oil on my face?
  • Wheat Germ oil is regenerative for mature and dry skin as an enriching emollient by sealing moisture into the skin. It has an orange hue and as a more viscous oil, does not readily absorb into the skin. Because of this, we recommend blending it into other carrier oils that have a thinner consistency. You can blend the carrier oils with any floral essential oil for the face such as Rose or Lavender. Try using it blended into a massage oil and rub it in at night. Once absorbed, it will work its magic and leave your face feeling superbly nourished.
Can Wheat Germ oil be taken orally?
  • Wheat Germ is often taken orally and added to smoothies, cereals and other food items. It is especially rich in Vitamin E and also contains Vitamin B (potassium) to regulate blood pressure, as well as triglycerides beneficial for the heart. Its other nutrients including folate, magnesium and zinc can support the immune system, improve hair growth, and bolster healthy skin as well as overall metabolic function. If you decide to use it added into foods, the general recommendation is to ingest a tablespoon per day.
Does Wheat Germ oil clog pores?
  • A comedogenic ingredient is a substance that has a high likelihood of clogging pores which can lead to acne, blemishes and blackheads. The comedogenic rating of Wheat Germ oil is 5 out of 5 (5 being the most severe clogging). Conclusively, this means that Wheat Germ oil will clog most people's pores due to the fact that it is thick and viscous. It is an ingredient recommended solely for spot treatments of very dry and damaged skin. For those whose skin is easily irritated due to sensitive skin or oily skin, it is recommended to patch test Wheat Germ oil on the inner arm for 24 hours before using over a larger portion of the body. If redness, itchiness or irritation occurs, discontinue use.
How to Use

Apply Topically: Our Single Essential Oils and Synergy Blends are 100% pure and undiluted. To apply to the skin, dilute with a high-quality Carrier Oil. See our dilution chart here. Velvety softness

Ok, this smells exactly like wheat germ... I should know. I think I ate it everyday back in the 80s when it was considered a health food...but honestly the smell isn’t bad BUT your skin will feel amazing. Truly like velvet. I rub the leftover all over my hands and they feel incredible

Soft skin!

I recently added this oil to my night time skin routine. I’ve been struggling with dry skin and feel like I constantly need moisture for it. This oil worked amazing. I use it with helichrysum and frankincense and have noticed such a difference in my skin. It’s no longer dry like it was! It does take a while to absorb into the skin which is why it’s perfect to use at night. Would be great to mix with other carriers for other body or face serums

Heavy Silk

If your looking for powerful healing and moisturising put this at top of your list. But the smell,,,,? According to the other reviewer the smell/odor is proof of it being the good stuff?
Well the imediate feel of silky softness and relief of dryness tells me it is the GOOD stuff. And being it feels so good to this dry skin I will be getting more and highly recommend it but I also highly recommend to be prepared with a highly fragrant EO to mix it with in order to contend with the smell.

At last EG is stocking Wheatgerm Oil!

I've been using Wheatgerm Oil in my homemade products for years, and was a little disappointed that I couldn't find anyone who supplied it here in the U.S., at least not anyone that I could trust - Wheatgerm should smell of wheat, not petrolium!
Back in the U.K. it is readily available in most health food shops, and from most aromatherapy suppliers, though the good stuff, the cold pressed, strong smelling stuff is hard to come by. So I am over the moon that EG now supply not only Wheatgerm, but the best kind!
Thank you so much EG for this most wonderful of products, and at such an affordable price too!!
