Hand Pouring vs Machine Filling | What's Better For My Oils?

At Edens Garden, we believe that quality should never be compromised, which is why we hand-pour every bottle of essential oil with meticulous care. Hand-pouring ensures that each oil undergoes rigorous quality checks, safeguarding against issues like cross-contamination that can occur with machine-filling.[1]

While machine-filling prioritizes efficiency, it often overlooks the delicate nature of essential oils, potentially blending residues from different oils and diminishing their purity. By hand-pouring, we uphold the highest standards of quality and authenticity, giving each bottle the personal attention it deserves.

Discover why hand-pouring has been at the heart of our process since 2009, and why it remains the superior choice for preserving the integrity and therapeutic benefits of your essential oils.

Why We Hand-Pour

In a world quickly becoming run by machines, there are still areas where we feel people are irreplaceable, and hand-pouring our oils is one of them. Here’s why.

Quality Check

Our essential oils undergo stringent quality checks, and by choosing hand-pouring, we guarantee that the aroma, viscosity, and overall purity are preserved to the highest standard. Hand-pouring allows us to carefully inspect each batch before it is bottled, ensuring that every bottle of Edens Garden essential oil meets our exacting standards. This final, meticulous quality check ensures that the oils you receive are as fresh, potent, and pure as nature intended.

When you choose Edens Garden, you’re choosing oils that have been carefully crafted and bottled with confidence, delivering exceptional quality every time.

Consistency

One crucial checkpoint allows us to ensure that each of our essential oil blends maintains a consistent oil ratio and balanced aroma. For single essential oils, while natural variations can occur due to factors like harvest time, rainfall, and soil pH, our hand-pouring process ensures that every batch meets our stringent quality standards.

By carefully assessing the aroma and consistency of both our blends and single essential oils, we guarantee that you receive the highest quality oils every time, reflecting the purity and potency that Edens Garden is known for.

Volume

Finally, we want to ensure you’re getting exactly what you paid for with every purchase. By hand-pouring and bottling our essential oils, we meticulously verify that the volume of each bottle is accurate, using precise measurement devices and scales. This attention to detail guarantees that you receive the full, premium-quality product you expect, without any discrepancies.

Hand-pouring allows us to maintain the highest standards of accuracy and integrity in every bottle of Edens Garden essential oil.

Quality Assurance

Hand-pouring is a critical final step in ensuring that every Edens Garden product meets the highest quality standards. Here’s a closer look at our meticulous process:

  1. Sourcing: Exceptional essential oils start at the source. That’s why we partner with reputable farms and distilleries worldwide, where our suppliers prioritize the well-being of their people and plants over profit.

  2. GC/MS Testing: Each oil undergoes rigorous testing in a laboratory using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC/MS). This analysis identifies every natural component within the oil and checks for the presence of pesticides, contaminants, synthetics, or any unwanted chemicals.

  3. Analysis: After GC/MS testing, industry-leading essential oil chemists and aromatherapists review the results to confirm the oil’s 100% purity and alignment with our benchmark quality standards.

  4. Refractive Index Testing: We test each oil’s refractive index by measuring how light passes through the sample. If an oil’s refractive index doesn’t match its standard, it may indicate adulteration.

  5. Specific Gravity Testing: The specific gravity of each oil is measured by comparing its density to that of water. Oils that do not meet the standard specific gravity may be adulterated.

  6. Organoleptic Testing: This involves a thorough evaluation of the oil’s aroma, color, and viscosity, comparing these characteristics to benchmark oils to ensure consistency and quality.

  7. Hand-Pouring: Finally, hand-pouring allows us to double-check that all organoleptic quality standards are met before each bottle is sealed, ensuring you receive only the finest, purest essential oils.

Sanitation

In today’s world, sanitation is more crucial than ever. At Edens Garden, we’ve always upheld rigorous sanitation practices, but we’ve recently enhanced our cleaning procedures and frequency to ensure the utmost health and safety for our employees and peace of mind for our customers.

Every piece of equipment is thoroughly sanitized before and after hand-pouring and bottling, effectively eliminating the risk of cross-contamination, pathogens, and the spread of bacteria.[2] By prioritizing cleanliness and quality control, we ensure that every bottle of essential oil you receive is as pure, safe, and effective as nature intended.

Tips For Hand-Pouring

Hand-pouring your oils at home? Take it from us, this is a great way to get acquainted with the quality and consistency of your oil. We recommend using the right equipment and sanitizing your supplies beforehand.

Our favorite tool for bottling oils at home is our pipettes. Small, easy to fill, and transfer your oils, our pipettes are the perfect tool for bottling at home. What’s more, each pipette includes measurements in the form of milliliters on the side so you can measure and fill your oils with precision.

Essential Oil Tonic Recipe

Put your pipette skills to the test with our Easy Essential Oil Tonic diffuser blend. Tonics have been used for centuries to help aid many conditions and promote health, and this blend is no different. For this project, you’ll need some pipettes and an empty 5 ml Amber Glass Bottle

What You Need:

Transfer your blend to an empty 5 ml bottle using your pipettes. Add 10-15 drops to your essential oil diffuser whenever needed.
