Frequently Asked Questions
Is Sunflower oil good for you?
  • Sunflower oil contains essential unsaturated fat, such as oleic acid. Oleic acid is a monounsaturated fat that is good for heart health and can reduce levels of bad cholesterol as well as reduce inflammation. Sunflower oil also contains Vitamin E and Vitamin K also beneficial for health. However, as with all fats, overconsuming these foods can lead to excess body weight and cancer risk. Used topically on the skin, it has a non-comedogenic rating of zero making it a superb oil as an emollient protecting the skin barrier and calming irritation and dry skin conditions without clogging pores.
Is Sunflower oil anti-inflammatory?
  • Sunflower oil has incredible health benefits including the ability to reduce inflammation. Topically, it is beneficial for dry skin and for conditions, such as eczema and psoriasis. Its non-comedogenic rating of 0, means it is non-irritating and won’t clog pores. Its Vitamin E content can also further its benefits for topical use to smooth out rough patches of skin and reduce redness and inflammation.
Sunflower oil made?
  • Sunflower oil is made by cold pressing the dehulled seeds using steel rollers or a piston-like cylinder to squeeze out the oil. If heat is used to extract the oil from the seeds, much of the flavor and nutritional quality become degraded. Cold pressing helps to maintain the nutrients in the natural oil. Sunflower seeds actually contain a significant amount of essential fatty acids (aka unsaturated fat) such as oleic acid that benefit skin and hair health. It is often used as a cooking oil and in prepared salad dressings.
Is Sunflower oil gluten free?
  • Sunflower oil is gluten free. For those with gluten sensitivities and allergies, Sunflower oil is safe for topical use and consumption. It has a nutty flavor and is used as an ingredient in cooking often. However, for those with nut or seed allergies and for those whose skin is easily irritated, it is recommended to perform a skin patch test of Sunflower oil on the inner arm for 24 hours before using over a larger portion of the body. If redness, itchiness or irritation occurs, discontinue use.
What is Sunflower oil?
  • Sunflower carrier oil (Helianthus annuus), is made from the seeds of the Sunflower plant, and a relative of safflower. The oil is cold pressed from the seeds to retain the purity of the constituents including essential fatty acids such as Linoleic and Oleic acids and a large amount of Vitamin E. The cold pressed method is ideal for using Sunflower oil on hydrating dry and problematic skin for issues such as acne, irritation, rashes and inflammation. It can also be used to treat dry, damaged hair.
How to Use

Apply Topically: Our Single Essential Oils and Synergy Blends are 100% pure and undiluted. To apply to the skin, dilute with a high-quality Carrier Oil. See our dilution chart here. Alternatively, use Carrier Oils alone as a natural moisturizer. We recommend performing a skin patch test when using a new essential oil topically.

Great for roller bottles!

I've used this in a bunch of roller bottles and I love it. It doesn't make me breakout on my face and it absorbs nicely into my skin. It doesn't effect the scents of my other oils either.

Works great

I have very sensitive eczema prone skin. This oil has worked great on my skin even on the sensitive areas . Works great as a carrier oil and in body butter recipes. Very happy with my purchases at Eden’s Garden .

Great base for serums and face wash

Sunflower Seed oil, along with grapeseed oil, is my go to base for face wash (oil cleansing method) and lotion (body oil). Literally use it every single day!

I have sensitive, acne prone skin - coconut oil, argan oil, and jojoba oil are all too heavy/make me breakout.

I make a mixture of 2 parts Sunflower seed oil, 2 parts Grapeseed oil, and 1 part castor oil to wash my face/remove makeup (rub it on, and wipe off with a hot wash cloth).

This is the best quality/most reasonably priced oils I've found - love it!
