Frequently Asked Questions
What is Neem oil?
  • Neem oil is made from the Neem tree, aka Indian Lilac tree that is native to India. It is an oil made by cold pressing the seeds. It is used in skin care products for its antimicrobial properties and wound healing abilities and capability to fight superficial fungal disease. It is often used in organic farming as a pesticide for its ability to stave off and kill plant pests.
What plants not to use Neem oil on?
  • If you garden or grow herbs in your home, you should never use a Neem oil spray on them which includes basil, caraway, cilantro, dill, marjoram, oregano, parsley, and thyme since the delicate or wispy leaves of these plants can cause burns on the foliage. Other plants such as arugula, lettuce, peas, and spinach can also suffer from this same issue and use of Neem oil with them must be completed with caution.
How to use Neem oil on plants?
  • The fatty acids in the oil, called triglycerides, have insecticidal properties, bactericidal, antiviral, and fungicidal properties. This makes it highly useful for outdoor and indoor plant pest control since it can destroy insects such as aphids, mealybugs, spider mites, other pests and larvae on contact. The general recommendation is to add 2 Tablespoons of Neem carrier oil to 1 tablespoon of liquid soap (which acts as an emulsifier to blend water and oil) and once combined, blend into one gallon of water. Shake the bottle and spray on plants as needed.
Is Neem oil safe for dogs?
  • According to NCBI and scientific research, “there is evidence that in dogs, Neem oil can help [repel] with fleas, ticks, intestinal parasites and mange mites… and that “Neem oil improves the clinical signs of skin disorders.” However, for its therapeutic actions in dogs, “further work was required on the efficacy of Neem oil in the treatment of canine atopy.” Many websites mention using Neem oil added to shampoo when washing your dog and massaging a small amount of Neem oil around the ears and scruff of the neck of your dog, so that the aroma will repel biting insects.
What is Neem oil good for?
  • With its content of fatty acids, antioxidants and antimicrobial compounds, Neem oil is beneficial for skin to fight superficial infections and promote wound healing and has also been used for mature skin, fine lines and wrinkles. One drop can be used on a cotton swab and applied directly to acne, warts, fungal infections and moles, left on for 20 minutes and then washed off with warm water. Due to some of its properties, it may be a reproductive toxin and is never recommended for consuming or drinking.

Works great!

This stuff is pungent! But it's exactly what works well when blended with other ingredients to make a great tick + flea repellent for my dog (and ME! On pant legs) And it's a way better smell than commercial insect repellent! I've saved some plants from bugs with this also! A great natural fix for insect problems.

Smells like onions and garlic, but great for natural pest remedy!

I had learned that neem oil was fantastic as a natural pest repellent and gave it a go. Using this product in a spray bottle mixed with water, I've had great success with killing/deterring pests from my houseplants. Whenever little plant gnats appear, I use this spray mix (20 pumps neem oil in 10 oz water) and they are gone the next day, though stubborn cases may take a few applications. This coming season I will be trying it on my garden outside! It definitely will make your home reek of garlic and onions, but I have no issue with this smell. And, it's a better alternative to harmful pesticides.

A little stinky, but...

Initially bought this oil to treat a case of ringworm. It took a while, but it eventually helped the skin get back to normal. EG offers this product at an exceptional price along with great quality. This oil is versatile.

Disgusting but Incredible

When I first opened my bottle of neem oil, I was DISGUSTED (and still am). The smell is very musky, deep, and just gross smelling, but I will admit that it works wonders. I have badly textured skin all over my body, and my face is oily and dry. This oil r
