How To Make Your Own Tea Tree Shampoo
Tea Tree oil, also known as melaleuca oil, is a concentrated oil from the leaves of the Melaleuca alternifolia; a tree native to Australia. It was introduced to the Western world by Captain James Cook in 1732. Since then it has been used as an antiseptic, antibacterial, anti-fungal, and as an analgesic for sore muscles. It is still one of the most popular essential oils today. As well as its many medicinal benefits, Tea Tree oil also has a number of benefits for your hair including:
1. Tea Tree Oil Eliminates Dandruff
This condition is often caused by a dry scalp. Because Tea Tree oil moisturizes the scalp and hair, it helps you control dandruff.
2. Tea Tree Oil Helps To Strengthen Hair
Natural Tea Tree oil shampoo will ensure that your hair follicles do not get clogged with harsh chemicals that that can make your hair dry and brittle.
WHY MAKE YOUR OWN TEA TREE SHAMPOO?
The main reason to take the time to make your own Tea Tree oil shampoo is because you can be sure it contains only natural ingredients. Most store-bought shampoos contain harsh and sometimes toxic chemicals that can be harmful for your hair and skin. For example:
- Sodium Laureth Sulfate: this agent gives your shampoo its foaming effects but can be harsh on your hair.
- Amodimethicone: this polymer seals in moisture and makes your hair feel smooth after conditioning. However, it can prevent the scalp from breathing, resulting in a thinning of your hair.
- DEA (diethanolamine): this foaming agent is a known carcinogen and can also result in skin and eye irritation.
As well as protecting your scalp and hair from harsh chemicals, when you make your own shampoo, you can create a balanced blend that will suit your own particular hair type.
