Frequently Asked Questions
What does Tea Tree essential oil do?
  • Historically, Tea Tree has been used to clear nail fungus, acne, head lice and a skin condition called eczema. Today, it serves the same purpose thanks to its powerful benefits. For skincare, we recommend diluting Tea Tree to 3% by combining 18 drops of Tea Tree in 1 oz of carrier oil. Apply the mixture to the area of concern. Tea Tree can also be diffused by adding 10 drops per 100 ml of water in an essential oil diffuser.
What essential oil smells good with Tea Tree?
  • Several essential oils blend well with Tea Tree to create a clean, fresh aroma. When blended with Peppermint, Tea Tree supports the respiratory system and offers a minty and refreshing aroma. For a clean and uplifting aroma, combine Tea Tree and the pure essential oil of Lemon. Additionally, this blend can refresh spaces and surfaces. For a blend that supports immunity and smells terrific, combine Tea Tree oil with Eucalyptus and Balm Mint Bush.
Is Tea Tree oil an essential oil?
  • Tea Tree (Melaleuca alternifolia) is steam distilled from the leaves of the tea tree shrub to produce pure essential oil. Using the CO2 extraction method, Tea Tree is also commercially available as a CO2 oil. With that said, Tea Tree is an essential oil but it’s also available in other oil forms including as a fragrance oil. To ensure you’re purchasing pure Tea Tree essential oil, the supplier should be able to provide a GC/MS report that coincides with the batch of Tea Tree you’re purchasing. The report should also be examined by an essential oil chemist or expert and include comments validating the oil’s purity.
Is Tea Tree essential oil good for skin?
  • Throughout history, Tea Tree has been used to heal various skin conditions. Today, Tea Tree is popularly used to care for acne. Our Tea Tree roll-on with Fractionated Coconut oil is great for this and can be applied directly to blemishes. Furthermore, Tea Tree is also commonly used to assist dandruff. For this purpose, add 6 drops of Tea Tree per ounce of shampoo and wash hair as normal, paying special attention to the scalp.
Is Tea Tree essential oil safe for dogs?
  • Tea Tree is not recommended to be used around dogs. Animals, including dogs, metabolize essential oils differently than humans. Certain essential oils are not safe for use around dogs because they’ve been shown to produce negative side effects. If you decide to diffuse Lemongrass ensure proper ventilation and that your dog is free to leave the room if desired. That being said, puppies and dogs with health conditions may be too sensitive to essential oil exposure. We also do not recommend topical or oral application of essential oils unless advised by an animal aromatherapist. To understand a little more about safe oils for dogs, read this blog post.
