    Learn About Essential Oil Diffusers

How to use an essential oil diffuser? Add a few drops of pure single essential oils or an oil blend to our diffusers and soak in the natural fragrance. The continuous mist of our oil diffusers will have your favorite scents wafting throughout your home all day. Our collection of sleek designs makes it easy to add a stylish, attractive and unique diffuser to any room. Match the color or style of your aromatherapy diffuser to any space, or take it on the go with our car or pocket essential oil diffusers. Whether you prefer a floral fragrance like Lavender and Jasmine or an energizing scent like Peppermint or Eucalyptus, our high-quality diffusers will bring your aromatherapy dreams to fruition. Water diffusers – also known as an active aromatherapy diffuser or ultrasonic diffuser – should be turned off before use. If there is a fill line in the diffuser’s tank, add water to the fill line. From there, add approximately 10 drops of pure essential oil per every 100 ml of water, then power your diffuser on. Diffusers that do not require electricity – also known as passive diffusers – each work a little differently. For example, we recommend adding essential oil to the wick and top of our Bloom Ceramic Diffuser and applying oil to the lava beads of our Jewelry Diffusers. If in doubt, refer to the diffuser’s instruction manual.

How many drops of essential oil should be in a diffuser? Because essential oils are highly concentrated and 100% pure, only a little is needed in a diffuser to be potent and effective. To a water diffuser, we suggest adding 10 drops per every 100 ml of water or 1 drop per every 10 ml. Passive diffusers are a little different. For example, Jewelry Diffusers only need about 1-2 drops applied to the lava beads whereas Essential Oil Inhalers and the Bloom Ceramic Diffuser require about 10-15 drops. Finally, the Reed Diffuser is compatible with an entire 10 ml bottle of your favorite essential oil.

How to clean essential oil diffusers? To clean your ultrasonic diffuser, unplug it and pour out any remaining water. From there, fill the diffuser’s water tank to the halfway point with clean water and white vinegar to help remove any buildup. Run the diffuser for 3-5 minutes before pouring the water out again. Dip a cotton swab in vinegar to clean the nooks then rinse with clean water once more, drain and dry with a clean cloth. To clean your passive diffusers, such as the Bloom Ceramic Diffuser, Reed Diffuser or Jewelry Diffusers, soak the diffuser pieces in a 50:50 mixture of water and white vinegar for a few hours before rinsing and letting air dry.

Are essential oil diffusers safe? Essential oil diffusers are completely safe with proper usage. In general, it’s best to keep your diffuser in an area where it won’t get knocked over. If you’re using an ultrasonic diffuser, diffusing for 30-60 minute intervals is recommended. Please keep in mind that sensitive individuals such as babies and pets aren’t able to metabolize essential oils as well as older children and adults. Make sure to clean your diffuser at least once a month. Finally, if your diffuser comes with an instruction manual, we suggest reading the safety section.

What essential oils are safe to diffuse around dogs? Essential oils are not only great for humans, but for dogs as well! A few essential oils that are generally safe to diffuse around your dog are Lavender, Clary Sage, Rose, Sweet Orange and Roman Chamomile. Lavender, Clary Sage and Roman Chamomile are soothing and calming for overactive dogs. Rose assists with soothing anxiety and Sweet Orange is uplifting and supportive. When diffusing, we recommend leaving a door open so your dog may leave if desired and ensuring there is adequate ventilation in the room.

Do essential oil diffusers actually work? Essential oil diffusers are one of the most effective tools to obtain the benefits of aromatherapy. This is because inhalation delivers essential oils to the bloodstream quickly. The best essential oil diffusers for filling a large room are active diffusers. These are generally water diffusers, nebulizing diffusers or any diffuser that uses electricity, actively outputs essential oil into the air and delivers a more potent aromatherapy experience. Passive diffusers work best in a small room such as a bathroom, or when you want to diffuse around sensitive individuals such as babies and pets.

Is diffusing essential oils safe for your lungs? Diffusing essential oil is perfectly safe for your lungs when proper usage guidelines are followed. To ensure safe diffusion, we suggest diffusing for 30-60 minute intervals. Please note that less essential oil should be diffused around sensitive individuals such as babies and pets. Do not diffuse expired or low-quality essential oils and make sure to clean your diffuser at least once a month. If you have asthma or a health condition affecting the lungs, it’s best to consult with your doctor before using essential oils.

Then add 10 drops per every 100 ml of water or 1 drop per every 10 ml of water. To help relieve stress, we recommend a soothing essential oil blend such as Stress Relief or Anxiety Ease. Is diffusing essential oils safe for cats? Cats are known to be more sensitive to essential oil exposure than other animals. Still, essential oils can be safely diffused around cats when proper safety guidelines are followed. For example, when introducing a new oil to your cat, diffuse 1 drop of essential oil for 15 minutes and observe your cat’s behavior. If they do not react, it may be safe to diffuse 3-5 drops of essential oil intermittently around your cat. Also, ensure that your cat can freely leave the room where the diffuser is, if desired and that there is adequate ventilation such as an open window.
