Frequently Asked Questions
What is Yuzu essential oil?
  • Yuzu essential oil is derived from the peel of Yuzu fruit through a process called cold pressing. A cold press works by pricking the citrus rinds, causing the essential oil to be released. The oil and juice then drip down into a container and are separated in a centrifuge. Yuzu is native to East Asia and a hybrid of sour mandarin and other citruses. Diffused or when mixed with other oils it is purifying, inspiring and some feel, personally empowering.
Can Yuzu essential oils help with congestion?
  • Yuzu essential oil can help with congestion when blended with other essential oils and used in a steam. To ease congestion, combine 2 drops Yuzu and 2 drops Rosalina or Cajeput. Add simmering water to a heat-safe bowl and place it on a table. Add your oil blend to the water. Closing your eyes, place your face over the bowl and cover your head and the bowl to trap in steam. Inhale for 5 minutes or as long as you can tolerate it to open airways.
How to use Yuzu essential oil?
  • There are several ways to effectively use Yuzu essential oil, including 1.) Add 10 drops to Yuzu per 100 ml of water to freshen your space and deodorize. 2.) Dilute 18 drops in 1 ounce of carrier oil. Apply to blemishes and to skin for nourishment. 3.) Add 10 drops Yuzu per 4 oz of baking soda. Sprinkle on carpets and rugs. Let sit for an hour before vacuuming to freshen and restore.
Is Yuzu essential oil phototoxic?
  • Certain essential oils contain natural components known as furanocoumarins. This is more common in citrus essential oils but does occur in other oils as well such as Angelica Root. Furanocoumarins cause essential oils to be phototoxic, meaning the oil can cause burns and skin irritation if sun and UV light exposure occurs. Not all citrus essential oils are phototoxic, however, including Yuzu. Therefore, this oil can safely be worn in the sun so long as it’s properly diluted.
What note is Yuzu essential oil?
  • In perfumery, scents have ‘notes.’ A scent can be a top, middle or base note. Yuzu is considered a top note. Each aroma note reacts differently based on its volatility. Top notes tend to be the most volatile, meaning they don’t last that long after they’ve been exposed to air. However, top notes are generally the strongest aroma when you first smell a scent. On the other hand, base notes are the least volatile, meaning they last much longer and are not the strongest aroma when you first experience a scent but they grow stronger after being exposed to air.

Tranquility in a bottle

This past winter I was in Japan and the hotel lobby had this wonderful fragrance. I asked them what it was and Yuzu was one of the main ingredients. It has such a calming and appealing smell. I’m gonna try to recreate that in my own home. I would definitely recommend it to use alone or to mix.

Yuzu. I love you

I bought Yuzu because I liked Yuzu Cannabliss. I’m happy I did. At first wiff, it smelled like new clothes smell...nuff said..I liked it. It also blends really well with florals, citrus, forest oils. I like combining it with Frankincense Serrata and or Himalayan Cedarwood or Atlas Cedarwood. And also Hemp and Helichrysum. I’m excited in my new adventure with Yuzu.

Good alone or in a blend

I like this oil because it brings a more down to earth element to the bright and powerful other citrus oils. I can add it to orange and it brings a new dimension of aroma. It is accurate that the aroma is more tart than sweet but it smells great to me. If I need to tone down an overly sweet aroma, I add Yuzu.

Yuzu is amazing!

Edens Garden Yuzu essential oil is by far my favourite! It has a beautiful and fresh citrus scent without being too sweet. A couple drops on my diffuser jewelry and sometimes the ends of my hair always gives me a nice pick me up, and it's almost always in my diffuser. It's great to add to massage blends too with quite a few benefits! I find it wonderful to blend with other oils as it doesn't get lost like other types of citrus do. 🧡
