- Tangerine essential oil (Citrus reticulata) for its citrusy and uplifting aroma, as well as its many benefits. Diffused, it can boost relaxation and pain. Tangerine oil makes a great addition to homemade cleaners as well for its ability to boost immunity and refresh bacteria. Diluted, it works to soothe pain and inflammation. In skincare, Tangerine oil nourishes skin and reduces the look of aging skin and cellulite.
- Animals such as dogs metabolize essential oils very differently than humans. If choosing to use Tangerine essential oil around your dog, it’s important to look out for warning signs such as behavioral differences, such as whining, scratching or acting loopy. Stop using essential oils around your dog if you notice these signs, and don’t use essential oils around small dogs, puppies and pregnant dogs. We don’t recommend applying essential oils to your pup or administering oils orally without consulting a holistic veterinarian. You may diffuse oils around your dog, but be sure to do so in a well-ventilated room where your dog can leave if desired.
- Studies have shown that Tangerine essential oils is antimicrobial and antioxidant-rich. As a result, it is immune-supportive when diffused and assists with antioxidant levels. It also makes a great addition to DIY sprays. To make your own spray with Tangerine oil, combine 80 drops of essential oil and 1 oz 190-proof grain alcohol in a 4 oz glass spray bottle. Let sit for a few hours before adding 3 oz distilled water. Shake gently to combine and spray on surfaces, linens and around high-traffic areas to refresh your space.
- Essential oils are powerful, concentrated substances so a little goes a long way. Two of the most effective ways to use them is by way of inhalation and topical use. Ingesting Tangerine essential oil is rarely necessary or recommended, no matter the brand. Essential oil ingestion can lead to adverse reactions such as medication contraindications, mucous membrane irritation, sensitization and nausea if done incorrectly. Therefore, if you wish to eat essential oils, we strongly recommend consulting with a knowledgeable professional with experience in internal use.
- Essential oils, including Tangerine oil, are not recommended to be used on poison ivy. For a natural home remedy for poison ivy, add half a cup of rolled oats in a clean stocking, sock or cheese cloth. Holding the cloth shut, soak the oats in hot water for a few minutes. After cleaning the affected area, place the oatmeal on the poison ivy for 10-20 minutes. Note, certain types of poison oak and ivy can easily spread. Take caution when cleaning and touching the affected area.
