Can you drink Blood Orange essential oil?
  • Essential oils are powerful, concentrated substances so a little goes a long way. Two of the most effective ways to use them is by way of inhalation and topical use. Drinking Blood Orange essential oil is rarely necessary or recommended, no matter the brand. Essential oil ingestion can lead to adverse reactions such as medication contraindications, mucous membrane irritation, sensitization and nausea if done incorrectly. Therefore, if you wish to drink essential oils, we strongly recommend consulting with a knowledgeable professional with experience in internal use.
Is Blood Orange essential oil safe for dogs?
  • Animals such as dogs metabolize essential oils very differently than humans. If choosing to use Blood Orange essential oil around your dog, it’s important to look out for warning signs such as behavioral differences, such as whining, scratching or acting loopy. Stop using essential oils around your dog if you notice these signs, and don’t use essential oils around small dogs, puppies and pregnant dogs. We don’t recommend applying essential oils to your pup or administering oils orally without consulting a holistic veterinarian. You may diffuse small amounts of oil around your dog, but be sure to do so in a well-ventilated room where your dog can leave if desired.
What’s the difference between Sweet Orange and Blood Orange essential oil?
  • Because both Sweet Orange and Blood Orange have a high content of limonene, therapeutically they are very much the same. What it really boils down to is their differing aromas. Blood Orange has an aroma that takes you right into the orange groves. The aroma is similar to that of the orange peel, with a fruity sweetness blended into a beautiful tangy green aroma. Sweet Orange offers soft complexities. Think of orange candy with a tart filling and soda. Out of all of our oranges, this one may have the most traditional orange aroma.
What is Blood Orange essential oil used for?
  • Blood Orange essential oil (Citrus sinensis), like its citrus cousins, is a great oil to keep on hand year-round. Therapeutically, it works to reduce pain, stress and heartburn. Diffused, it supports the immune system while encouraging energy and antioxidant levels. Its hefty limonene content and fresh aroma can also uplift mood. To enjoy its many benefits, we recommend diffusing it or diluting it and applying topically.
