How To Get Firmer Skin With Essential Oils
It's something people are willing to go under the knife and get injections for and something that people spend thousands of dollars to achieve. We’re talking about firming skin. Luckily, reducing the appearance of sagging skin may not require any of the above when you have powerful astringent ingredients like essential oils.
To help your skin look its very best, we’ve compiled a list of our favorite skin tightening oils. Read on for great-looking skin.
What Causes Sagging Skin?
There are several potential causes behind saggy skin. Different causes may require different treatments, so it’s important to understand the cause of your skin condition. The most common causes of sagging skin include:
Aging
One hurdle in aging is that your body begins to produce less collagen and elastin synthesis, especially around menopause. These two elements can hinder skin firmness and elasticity.
Free Radicals
Through pollution, exposure to UV rays, smoking and dust, our bodies are subjected to free radicals daily. After a while, free radicals take their toll by damaging skin-cell membranes and causing premature aging. How so? Free radicals attach to healthy skin cells and cause oxidative damage which in turn can inhibit collagen production, induce hyperpigmentation and damage elastic fibers.
Inflammation
Inflammation can be a double-edged sword. While it’s the body’s natural response to repairing tissues and preventing infection, it can also disrupt skin depending on how long the inflammation lasts and its intensity. What’s more, long-lasting inflammation can lead to developing wrinkles and lines.
Keeping Skin Firm
A great skincare maintenance routine is the key to achieving a firm, bright and flawless skin complexion. Make sure your daily skincare regimen includes the following three steps:
-
Cleansing
-
Moisturizer
-
Sun protection
Clean and moisturize your skin in the morning and evening and apply sun protection whenever you’ll be exposed to UV rays.
Depending on your skin type, skin condition, and the amount of time you’re willing to put in each morning and evening, you can also include exfoliation, toner and masks.
While different skin has different needs, we recommend using natural products, free from artificial aromas and ingredients that can irritate sensitive skin.
